AI for Seniors

Stay safe, stay connected

Scammers now use AI to fake voices, emails and texts. A few simple habits let older adults enjoy what AI does well, like staying in touch, finding information and managing appointments, while spotting the warning signs.

Safety tips

  • Pause before you pay. Banks, the CRA and police will never ask for gift cards, cryptocurrency or wire transfers.
  • Voice cloning is real. If a “grandchild” calls in trouble, hang up and call them back on a number you know. Agree on a family code word.
  • Don’t click links in unexpected texts or emails. Go to the official website or call the number on your card.
  • Report it. Contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 and tell someone you trust.

Sample workshops

  • Spot the Scam: phishing, fake calls and deepfakes
  • Your First AI Assistant: asking questions, writing emails and setting reminders
  • Video calls and staying connected safely

Try this: Ask an AI assistant: “What are the signs of a phishing email?” Then compare the answer with a message in your inbox.

AI for Persons with Disabilities

Tools for independence

AI can read text aloud, describe images, caption conversations and turn speech into text. We focus on practical, accessible tools and on protecting your privacy.

Safety tips

  • Start with built-in features. Screen readers, live captions and voice control are free on most phones and computers.
  • Check what an app collects before sharing health or personal information.
  • Double-check AI answers before making medical, legal or financial decisions.
  • Learn with a trusted person when trying new tools for the first time.

Sample workshops

  • Accessibility tools on your phone
  • Voice assistants for daily living
  • AI for job applications and workplace accommodations

Try this: Turn on live captions on your phone and try them with a video or call.

AI for Parents & Families

Learning together at home

Kids are already using AI at school and at home. Families who explore it together build trust, good habits and healthy boundaries.

Safety tips

  • Talk openly about which AI tools your kids use and why.
  • Set family rules: no names, photos, school or address shared with AI tools or strangers.
  • Use parental controls and age-appropriate settings on devices and apps.
  • Teach “AI can be wrong.” Check important answers with a second source.

Sample workshops

  • Family AI Night: hands-on activities for all ages
  • Raising digitally confident kids
  • Online safety: fake profiles, deepfakes and image misuse

Try this: Ask an AI tool a question together, then fact-check the answer as a family.

AI for Kids

Curious, creative and safe

Fun, hands-on introductions to what AI is and how to use it safely, explained in plain language for ages 8 to 12.

Safety tips

  • AI is a tool, not a secret friend. Tell a trusted adult if anything feels weird.
  • Keep it private: never share your name, school, address or photos.
  • Not everything AI says is true. Ask a grown-up or check a book.
  • Be kind online, just like you are in person.

Sample workshops

  • What is AI? Games and activities
  • Create a story with AI
  • Spot the Fake: real photos versus AI images

Try this: Make up a story with AI, then write your own ending.

AI for Teens

Create, learn and protect your future

Teens can use AI to study, create and explore careers while protecting their privacy and reputation.

Safety tips

  • Use AI to learn, not to copy. Follow your school’s rules on AI use.
  • Think before you post. Images can be altered and shared without permission.
  • Spot manipulation: fake profiles and offers of money or followers are common scams.
  • Lock down accounts with strong passwords and two-step verification.

Sample workshops

  • AI study skills
  • Responsible content creation: video, music and design
  • AI careers and future-ready skills

Try this: Ask AI to quiz you on a topic you’re studying this week.

AI for Teachers & Educators

Classroom-ready AI literacy

Practical guidance for using AI to save planning time and to teach students how to use it responsibly.

Safety tips

  • Set clear guidelines for when and how students may use AI.
  • Use AI for drafts of lesson plans, differentiation and feedback, then review everything.
  • Teach verification: students should check and cite AI-assisted work.
  • Protect student privacy. Never enter names or personal details into AI tools.

Sample workshops

  • AI for lesson planning
  • Teaching AI literacy in any subject
  • Academic integrity in the age of AI

Try this: Ask AI to adapt one reading passage for three different reading levels.

AI for Caregivers

Support for the people who support others

Caregiving is demanding. AI can help you organise, set reminders and research, and help protect the people you care for from scams.

Safety tips

  • Get organised: use AI to build schedules, appointment lists and checklists. Store sensitive details securely.
  • Block scams by helping loved ones turn on spam call filters and email protection.
  • Verify health information with doctors, pharmacists and other professionals.
  • Share the load with shared calendars and reminders for the whole family.

Sample workshops

  • AI organisation tools for caregivers
  • Protecting loved ones from fraud
  • Saving time and making room for self-care

Try this: Ask AI to turn this week’s appointments into a simple daily schedule.

AI for Newcomers to Canada

Settle in with confidence

AI translation and assistants can make settling in easier. Scammers also target newcomers, so knowing the warning signs matters.

Safety tips

  • Know the red flags. Government agencies will not threaten arrest by phone or ask for payment in gift cards or crypto.
  • Translate, then confirm. Use AI to understand documents, but check important details with official sources.
  • Be careful with job offers that ask you to pay upfront or share banking details early.
  • Use official websites ending in canada.ca for government services.

Sample workshops

  • AI for language learning
  • Job search and resumes with AI
  • Avoiding common scams that target newcomers

Try this: Ask AI to explain a form or letter in simple words in your first language.
